On June 2, 2020, Dr. Faye Harrison published an op-ed article, “How a Divided America Faces a Convergence of Multiple Crises,” in Pravda, a major center-left newspaper in Slovakia (which can be read here). The Deputy Head of the newspaper’s Foreign Desk invited her to contribute a perspective on the national unrest ignited by the killing of George Floyd by police officers in Minneapolis. He had read one of her earlier articles (“Racial Profiling, Security, and Human Rights”; which can be found here) on anti-Black police brutality and vigilante violence. The latter was written in the wake of Trayvon Martin’s unjust death.
